My brother is by far the most impressive producer i have ever met. Not because he is my Brother. It is because i have never known anyone who can master more genre's of music than him. I've heard him produce Blues, Rock, Drum & Bass, Hip Hop, Ambient, fuck.....almost everything except Death Metal. His most recent tracks have me in awe. I guess buying an APC and Ableton really changed the game.

He was just starting to produce when we met and over time i have heard this man's music evolve so quick i couldn't believe it at first. If you want to hear some of the best dubstep selections in the city this man hosts a weekly event at Barfly every Wednesday night from 9 Post until 2 Ante. Brown WreckLoose has recently taken a new route into the world of Drum & Bass and Jungle production. Out of all the work he has produced in his lifetime, this is by far his best. Joyride

Joyride has been involved in the Omaha scene for many many years. His previous project called "Shiver Shiver" turned regular shows into all out dance parties and now This multi-instrumentalist has taken a new route this past year under the Joyride moniker and still has the ability to make women of all types go crazy. He released an EP for free earlier this year and it is still one of my top 10 favorite releases of 2011. I've personally seen people go down hard when i play his songs in clubs which gives me enough proof that there probably has been at least 30 babies created to his music.

Zach Smith and I have been buddies since High School. I used to watch this dude skate the most ridiculous spots when we were younger. I've always admired this dude's style of skating and really thought he would of signed to Girl or something by now....but instead this dude buy's an MPC 2000xl and starts cranking out FRESH beats overnight. His progress has been very exciting to hear over the past few months and I hope this dude drops a beat tape soon. You don't meet very many people who can produce their own skate video part AND make the beats for it. That's supreme talent right there. Supreme.

Okibi has been a cat that i've been keeping a keen eye on since 2008. He is part of a collective called Union Sound System based out of Victoria, Canada. He has a very strong presence in Canada's electronic music scene and also has a hell of a talent for beat making. Recently he has taken many different sonic experimental routes and brings out some of the most deep frequencies that my stereo can handle. I hope one day we can cross paths because USS is on some real next level shit.

Our Hearts Are Stars has released a single called "She Has It All". OHAS is a project started by Adam Haug (Oh possum/Haunted Gauntlet) with Cristina Bertuldo, Dojorok, Jason Myers (Talking Mountain), James Maakestad (Gus & Call, Bear Country) and Myself. We recorded this song back when snow still layered your cars and the air frosted our skin.

I'm sure you have already heard the upcoming plans for the House Of Loom. I am excited to announce that I will have an in-house residency at the venue and will be curating a few monthly events with my friends. One event will be a monthly Hip Hop session with Conchance, Black Jonny Quest, & Dojorok. We are planning our first event in august with some of the best MC's and Turntablists in the city. The other event will be put on by Nater Smith and Myself which will be a dance event with clusterfuck of genres mashed up into a southern style dinner so good it'll make you want to slap your momma. There will also be a ton of other friends who are putting on monthly events there as well such as Loud (Masaris), Depressed Buttons & Goo (The Faint), and many more to be announced. Stay tuned for updates at the facebook page or on here.

Yes. It's been a while since the last post i've made on here. I don't really have any excuse other than being busy with work and music. I guess that's a good thing right? I've been very honored to play many shows with alot of talented forces and sharing stages with everyone from Mogwai to The Gunk Crew. Life has been on a constant uprise.

Last Sunday, Peanut Butter Wolf visited Omaha's Enamel Studio to give a lecture about his genius creation, Stones Throw Records. A large amount of musicians, DJ's, and Engineer's showed up to learn the history and efforts it took to run the L.A. based label from a small house with his trusted label mates to the large indie force that took over the world with countless releases. It was an honor to get to sit across from a legend and be able to listen to his views on so many talents that he has come across and to hear stories about Charizma and Dilla that hit close to all of us in the room....especially him. Also, I found out that our city councilmen Vice President Franklin Thompson released a record on Stones Throw. Check out a track below! I didn't know Frank got down with Electro Funk.

Afterwards. Conchance, Willie Karpf, Black Johnny Quest, Dojorok, and I delivered an opening performance followed by Peanut Butter Wolf's stunning video DJ set. I'll let the pictures do the talking from here =)

If you haven't already heard. Conchance, Dojorok, and I are opening up for the Legendary PEANUT BUTTER WOOOOLLLLFFFFFFF! This man is responsible for Stones Throw Records which has released countless amazing records from Dilla, Madlib, YNQ, J Rocc, Mayer Hawthorne, Dam Funk, DJ Romes, Savath E Savalas, Anika, Breakestra, The Heliocentrics, Dimlite, Georgia Anne Muldrow, and the list goes on and on and on. I have to admit that 40% of my record collection is from Stones Throw and Now Again (ST's sister label) so getting the chance to meet and open for this man is quite the honor. February 18th & 19th i'll be heading down to Kansas City and Lawrence to perform with Conchance on the 1's & 2's. I don't have any information on the 18th (KC) but on the 19th we will be performing with The Hips which features members of Drakkar Sauna and 4th of July! The show will be held @ The Replay Lounge (946 Massachusetts Street). 5 Bones. Show @ 9 Post Meridian.

Febuary 22nd. Lightning Bug is performing with Bear Stories (formally GET DOWN) and Ties @ The Waiting Room! This has been a show that has been in talks for a while and i'm stoked that it's finally going to happen. 9 Post Meridian. $7.

After over 80 shows and countless moments to remember. Loom is celebrating its 5 year anniversary @ Espana! This could possibly be the most exciting event @ Espana to date. I'll be on the 1's & 2's with Brent Crampton, Greg Jackson, and Shif-D. Also, Stephen Bils will be DJing in the Loom Lounge (located right next door) for a small art show hosted by Daniel Muller who has been capturing our souls with his amazing photography throughout the years. I highly advise you to show up early because once the clock hit's 11. It's all through the roof from there. You can find more info on the event here.

On 4/20, Lightning Bug is performing with Funktrek Voyager, Mo Caiaus, Mars Black, Boba Lue, and DJ E. Babbs @ The Waiting Room! This will be quite the show with genres ranging from funk to indie rock to hip hop. Sometimes i wish every show could be like that. $8. 9 Post Meridian.

On Friday, December 17th catch us @ Oleavers Pub. We are performing with Rock Paper Dynamite and The Fergesons. Its been a long time since we've played at Oleavers and our first show with RPD. Lightning Bug has completed the EP

Months and months of demos, shows, vacations, studio arrangements, studio re-arrangements, work, push up contests, and other benal activities have finally led us to a final mixdown of the EP (which still doesn't have a name).

On August 15th, Loom is presenting "Versions" at the "F*ck Me, I'm Omaha Famous" event held every few months at The Max. Brent Crampton, Jay Kline, DJ Supe, and I will be bringing you the best in Dub culture with a blend of classic and upcoming artists that have help invent and re-invent the genre. August 21st, Loom is weaving the annual white party! I will be joining Brent Crampton on the decks for a night that will never be forgotten. Dress in white. Bring your families, and join us at The Waiting Room!

In September & October, we'll have a full schedule on our hands with events at The Joslyn's sculpture garden with DJ's from NY on September 2nd and at Espana with DJ AKIO from seattle on the 9th. Lightning Bug Record = 50% complete

If you haven't already heard, Lightning Bug has FINALLY entered the studio to record our first EP. I know we've been screwing around for a minute but with some luck and family love we are able to get some work done. We plan on pressing Vinyl and CD's this fall with some extra remixes from friends and some other goobah we can find for your ears. I'll post more pictures and some videos from the sessions in a few weeks.

Evoleno will be an EP containing 4 new solo tracks, a remix of Justin Valentines "Walk Into The Sea" and a cover of The Flaming Lip's "In The Morning Of The Magicians". I'm honored to announce that i will be DJing alongside Brent Crampton, Greg Jackson, and Shift-D for Loom's 4th year in existence! This night will mark the highlights of all 57 events that have been held and I'm sure will be our biggest at Espana. It's absolutely amazing how far loom has come and it has only been growing and growing and growing. From celebrating this earth's culture and spirit to unknowingly playing that one song that eventually led 2 people to fall in love. I have never seen so much beauty, passion, and positive energy in one place 12 times a year.

For anyone who hasn't experienced Loom, this is the event you NEED to check out. For those who have, please tell those who haven't how phenomenal this night will be. =)

You might be wondering....where in the hell is Lightning Bug? (or you might have forgotten about us) but when we're not stuck in our own homes from the ridiculous amounts of snow and ice hitting the area, we're cooped in the boog working on a refreshing new set for your ears. =)

This Friday we will be performing at Oleavers Pub with Saddle Creek's Ladyfinger!!! Cost is only 5 bones and the show will start 9 post meridian. This is a 21+ event (sorry kids....)

On the 19th, I will be joining Brent Crampton, Big Wade, DJ Real, The Assemble of the Saints, Raqs Awn Belly Dancers, Heartland Hoopers, BANG! Percussion Ensemble, and more as we raise awareness and funding to help the victims of the Haiti earthquake. This will take place at Love's Jazz & Arts Center at 7 post meridian. This is an all ages event so please bring your friends and family along!!!! You can find more info at Loom's blog.

I would like to give a huge THANK YOU to you wonderful people in Omaha for supporting Conchance in his recent win at the OEA Award's for the best Hip Hop artist! The record is finally in its completion stages and you can expect high quality productions from Johann Carbajal (Furcast), Adam Haug (Oh Possum) Sam Martin (Capgun Coup), and Myself. No release date yet but feel free to listen to some of the songs from the album on his myspace.

Flesh Eating Skin Disease has given me the privilege to remix some songs off of their new album! I will post more details and snippets soon. If you haven't seen these guys live your missing out. On the 25th they will be performing for FREE at the slowdown with Talking Mountain.

Ranging techniques make them appealing to a variety, yet continuously remaining unique and one of a kind. It's kind of rare to hear DJ's drop dubstep & glitch tunes in alot of clubs in the city and even more rare to find dedicated producers. Wobbie family's Juan Chaparro aka Dojorok has been hard at work making a change in this field. I've had my ears set on this guy's music for a while and even got a chance to DJ with him on New Years Eve. This is an artist that you CANNOT pass up. Check some of his music on his myspace.

My Brother aka The Ghost Villa has been dropping fresh beats on his myspace like hot cakes. Tracks like "Break" & "Cinnamon Bark" are a definite sign that he is cooking up some madness in Minneapolis.

This past Thursday Sam Evans, Katie Claus, Alex Van Beaumont, and I embarked on a 4 day and 3 night journey to the windy city. A journey full of shopping, incredible restaurants, rain, harvest moons, long train & bus rides, ALOT of coffee, sightseeing, Dunkin Donuts, and the highlight Mr. Philip Glass.

We ate at this spot called The Chicago Diner. The look & feel of the place is just like your everyday diner but the food is 100% vegan.

On September 19th. Brent Crampton, Chase Thornburg, Kirsten Kulver, the O.NE crew and I put on a intermission performance at Omaha Fashion Week's finale show in downtown Omaha to a crowd over 2000 people! A big thanks to Justin Hyppolite (DJ AQBT) for putting together some footage from the event. =)

Have you ever played a game so addicting that you spend every second of free time you have trying to beat every level, challenge, and opponent that comes across in your path?

Peggle is THAT game.

For those who don't know what Peggle is, read about it on Wikipedia....or just play the game.

I have seen many many many lives disappear ever since the mass discovery of this game. Since 2007, PopCap (game developer) has released Peggle & Peggle Nights on almost every device you can think of. Everything from your computer to the xbox 360 to a blackberry PDA! The opportunities for people to play this game are endless and has caused alot of happiness, addiction, anger, confusion, competitiveness, and most of all. FUN.

My roommates and I came up an idea to host a Peggle Tournament at The Chomp House sometime in November/December. The winner will take home a Sega Dreamcast (thanks to Dan B) and bragging rights till the next tournament. I'm going through alot of issues setting this up though and i would love to ask for your help to put on a legit, successful, and safe tournament. On August 1st @ The Waiting Room, I will be performing songs from SunRo (Stay Up), JV and The O YEAH Band, and Conchance's new album with Justin Valentine, Logan Ransdell, David Moore, Mishell Hernandez and Conchance for the 2009 Omaha Entertainment Awards showcase. Very excited to finally drop some new material! Check out the commercial spot below.

Reece Bones and I are arranging a couple "events" for your liking. Since August has marked our first year as a duo, It would be awesome to do back to back events with one night a 100% tribute to Disco and the next night a mash up of electronica with styles ranging from House to Dubstep to Hip Hop to Techno Classics (except sandstorm.......I will not play that song). Dates are not set in stone yet but plan on mid August!!

August 6th I will be Djing in the Espana Lounge for Loom along with DJ Supe (who will also be spinning in the main room with Brent Crampton)

Thats just about what i experienced last night, except they also had a vocalist who put me into some kind of trance with all of the unknown chanting. My friend kyle told me after the show that he felt like he went to hell, others couldn't even say anything after what they just experienced, all i could do was breathe....finally. It was by far the LOUDEST performance i have been to now, and one of the most impressive visual and audio displays i have seen come through omaha. Thank you Sunn.....Thank you.

After an entire month of waiting and waiting......patiently waiting.......IT CAME!

Bjork's Voltaic boxset. Compiled of 3 vinyls, 2 cd's, and 2 dvd's of live performances, remixes and re-recordings. I cleared about 90% of it before i left for the show and im not that great of a "reviewer", but this is by far an A+ release. The only bad thing about it is the fact that i havent seen mi amore since i gotten this to give her some xoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxooxox.

Meeting The Rapture/David City Recap.

Yesterday, David and I were invited to The Faints Enamel studio on 26th & Farnam street where we got to have a Q&A with Brent Crampton & The Rapture. If you aren't familiar with this group, they hail out of New York city and have created hit singles such as "House Of Jealous Lovers" and "Get Myself Into It". It was really exciting to be able to be apart of a small lecture with some of Omaha's finest musicians, photographers, poets, producers, and engineers. After the lecture and a few red bulls we got to sit in the studio and collaborate on a track that will hopefully be released sometime soon. It was so amazing to be able to meet all these people and connect on many different levels. In months time you might even see some very interesting collaborations between some of us.

After the lecture and all the goodness, i packed my turntables and headed out to David City, NE where i spun some hip hop, bmore, and hard house for a memorial show for a good friend of The Moore's who recently passed. The night went very well, the people seemed to be digging my tunes (other than the few who kept egging me to play stairway to heaven and top 40 club bangas). We even performed "pipe dreams" and did some freestyling throughout the night to keep the vibes up (Note: if you ever forget a microphone, just plug your headphones into the mic input, works like a charm). The best thing about the night was around midnight when we raised a toast and then a thunderstorm came through turning the place into a HUGE mud pool. David and I snapped a few photo's of the night.

Thank you David City! Ill be back soon.

On Sunday. Capgun Coup, Bear Country, Conchance, and I embarked on a journey to Des Moines, Ames, and Lawrence. 4 days and 3 nights of music, blue ribbons, sweet accapella, tour stories, wu tang albums on blast, mexican/american food, tiny couches, fiesty cats, skateboarding, good times and good rhymes. Ever heard of a Dirty Chai? Me neither....it's the BOMBAY though.

I'd love to say thanks to everyone who came out to the shows in the past 2 days, we had a megaton blast and I have to say, hearing many positive comments from our friends and family really lifted my spirits. Being trapped in a basement for so long, we're stoked that we are finally getting more and more chances to express our music. The best expression comes from repression. ;)

Tomorrow, i will be embarking on a 3 day journey to Des Moines, Ames, and Lawrence (KS) with Conchance, Capgun Coup, and Bear Country. Im super stoked to be apart of this cause ive never been on "tour" or anything similar other than the beatirce shows years ago. Plus, im traveling with some phenomenal musicians. Expect blogs after the shows. Expect alot of cell phone pictures and maybe a very low quality distorted sounding video too.

After Jeff's passing, i went through my computer and bumped a few tracks that we put together back in the winter. I have been talking up a storm about how ill put them on the Internet, but i never made the time to sit down, mix, and bounce them. Today i realized that the best way to release this is to just convert it. No edit's and no fancy mixing because the recording was just 2 mics, jeff, and me. Plus jeff would of laughed if i tried to make this sound any better than it already is.

I have been invited by Brent Crampton to DJ in Espana's new gallery for The Loom in June! I am still speechless on how amazing this is to me. A couple years ago this was a dream of mine, now it has become reality! I will be spinning an array of downtempo, funk, soul, and afro beat. Once the flyers are made i will post it around the web like crazy so you dont forget =) Also, I have been slowly working on a few new mixes entitled The Kethrotronica Experiments. They are a series of 1 hour mixes through different styles of electronic music. The main goal i am trying to accomplish from these mixes is to present a diverse & solid introduction to the style of music for first time listeners (and cats who already dig it). The first mix will be composed of Ambient & Minimal styles and (hopefully) will be recorded in the next few weeks. Stay Tuned.

5 Bands/Artists that i would die to see.

I had a great discussion yesterday with my Grandmother about music. I went off into a crazy explanation about how far i would travel to see some of my favorite artists. When i woke up this morning, i decided to turn it into a blog post (since i havent been posting that much).

#1 Bjork

It seems like every single time i bring up Bjork, someone chuckles or smirks at me because they know how much i love this womans music. Have you ever really sat down and bumped any of her albums? The amount of effort, artists, technology, and ambition that goes into her albums as well as her shows has never failed to impress the me along with the masses. I was telling my Grandmother yesterday, i would pay hundreds of dollars to travel and see her live for 1 night. Alone or not.

#2 Stop It!!

Stop It!! is a Post Hardcore/Indie band from Richmond, VA. I remember listening to Self Made Maps for the first time of my life and how much the album inspired me through the teen years. I always used to lay in my room with this album on repeat wishing i could play music just like this. When you hear lightning bug's tracks you will really tell how much influence i have taken just from this band. These guys stopped performing a few years ago but re spawned into Pink Razors (which i havent heard yet......).

#3 90 Day Men

I discovered 90 Day Men from reading up on Back When's influence section on Myspace. When i picked up "Panda Park" the album didnt stick to me as well i thought it would (probably because i also thought it was going to be some doom metal band). As months and repeats went by i started to become addicted to this band and the Indie sound in general.....To be honest, i dont know if these guys are still active.

#4 The Roots Of Orchis

We play music, we've got records out, we do tours. What else is there to say? Take a listen and you'll figure it out. Man, that makes us sound like total assholes.

I found TROO on Soulseek when i was looking for a song by The Roots (sorry guys)(i still buy your music), but when i downloaded it i knew what i was hearing was not the roots at all, but an amazing blend of hip hop grooves, live instrumentation, experimentation, and innovation. It was everything i wanted to hear come out of a band.

#5 Portishead

Need i say more? Who would want to miss this group? Part of the artist circle who put Bristol on the map and created the famous "Trip Hop" sound. Everything from Geoff's waling guitar riffs to Beth's soft and yet powerful voice, to Adrian's plethora of electronic sounds. Its almost impossible to become hooked on this group. I remember Kurt Stork telling me he played Dummy at a Super Bowl Party at his parents house one time (think for a second...super bowl party in Waterloo, NE.....ok) and everyone in the house was really digging it. These cats really know how to make music to intrest the entire universe.

Celebrated Amanda's 21st B-day Bash.
and im currently surviving with a total of 12 hours of sleep since Friday morning.
